Compare like with like
Record age, engines, hours, service history, equipment and berth status. Advertised price alone does not explain the difference between two apparently similar boats.
Talk to the intended marina
Confirm access, the proposed berth and charges directly. Ask about visiting contractors, maintenance arrangements, lifting and storage relevant to your boat.
Use a structured viewing
Inspect access to engines and systems, observe visible condition and ask the seller to demonstrate equipment. Record what could not be checked so it reaches the specialist survey brief.
Think past the test run
A successful sea trial does not answer every question about title, maintenance or suitability. Agree inspection and contract requirements before committing funds.
