Boat buying assistance
Choose your next boat with the ownership in mind.
The right boat fits more than the purchase budget. It needs to suit your waters, berth, crew, experience and the time you want to spend maintaining it.
Maritime Expert provides practical buying assistance, from shaping the brief and building a shortlist to viewing support, specialist questions and handover planning. Ireland is our current base, with UK enquiries considered by arrangement.
Start with how you will use it
Before searching adverts, establish the essentials: where you will keep the boat; where you want to cruise; who will use it; and what the purchase and annual ownership budgets need to cover.
As a result, a shortlist can be judged against your real requirements rather than the attraction of one particular advert. Engine arrangement, layout, access for maintenance, equipment and future resale all deserve attention alongside appearance.
Experience with the whole ownership picture
Steve founded Boatbreakers in 2000 and later developed BuyAnyBoat. Alongside former surveying experience, this brings a practical view of condition, maintenance costs and resale — the issues that continue long after the purchase.
We agree the scope and fees in writing. If Steve or an associated business has a relevant interest in a proposed transaction, it is disclosed before advice is given. You remain free to choose your own surveyor and other advisers.
Bring in the appropriate specialists
Practical buying assistance helps you ask better questions and plan the next step. Structural surveys, engine inspections, title checks, legal work, tax and registration questions require the appropriate specialist involvement and are separate from a preliminary appraisal.
Once you have bought, support can continue through delivery, boat handover and own-boat tuition.
